Preservation of historic monuments and safety in the workplace

French heritage monuments have to ensure the safety of their maintenance workers on a daily basis, while preserving the site and the safety of its many visitors.
From castles and botanical gardens to museums and art centres, these exceptional sites are looking for solutions tailored to their constraints, combining comfort and safety for visitors and staff alike. And, above all, to safeguard these prestigious sites during maintenance or servicing operations.

Some operations at height require special equipment. Audinnov works with maintenance and upkeep teams to meet their expectations in terms of safety, ergonomics and efficiency. And this at every stage of the process: from the choice of equipment to its commissioning.

Analyse the work area & determine the appropriate equipment

To support maintenance teams effectively, Audinnov listens to the specific needs of each site. Understanding the site where the work is to be carried out is the starting point for safety measures, since it will determine which equipment is recommended: PIRL, scaffolding or micro-ladder.

For example, in the tropical greenhouse of the Museum National d'Histoire Naturelle in Paris, the use of an Aerostep® type safety ladder was recommended to access the sound system in the middle of the vegetation, without risking damaging it.

At the Palais du Luxembourg, the Ergolift® micro-ladder was chosen for its access height, short wheelbase and manoeuvrability, making it easy and safe to move around, even in the midst of the public.

Training is an essential asset in ensuring the safety of our operatives when working at height. The use of certain equipment requires a CACES or a specific diploma.

This is the case for the micro-ladder used at the Palais du Luxembourg. All new arrivals must then be trained in the use of the equipment, and Audinnov offers training and familiarisation sessions on customer sites. For PIRLs, user support or in-house training may be recommended.

Work is carried out while ensuring the safety of staff and visitors, and guaranteeing smooth and pleasant access for all. The work area must be signposted. In addition, employees carrying out maintenance or servicing work wear PPE appropriate to the risks involved and remain attentive to the safety of everyone involved throughout the work: from deployment to re-deployment.
